Up, Down, All Around

Like a roller coaster, keeps goin' faster, 'coz I'm goin' past ya, thrills comin' at ya
Up, down, all around, like a roller coaster
~ The Partridge Family

Yes, I know, that video is a treasure! As I searched for songs about roller coasters, I stumbled upon that 70's gem and had to post it just to brighten up your day. Funny how such a silly song could be the perfect illustration of my life over the past several months. Let's see if you agree. I stopped singing with my church choir, joined an adult Sunday school class after teaching children for 5 years, am wrapping up almost 7 years of staying home with my precious daughter, going back to work in a few weeks, and sending the girl to school - all because God asked me to.

Through this season of seeking what God truly desires for my life, He revealed (among many other things) that I am to be writing about Him. I never would have even considered this were it not for His Sovereign intervention! If you read my blog (all 5 of you!), then you know that I began writing reviews for a homeschool magazine in 2008. When that job ended, I was asked to stay on to write reviews for the magazine's website. These reviews allowed me to work on writing skills I had long forgotten. God helped me recall techniques I learned way back in high school and college. In the fall of 2009, a sweet friend of mine asked for my help in writing devotions for the children's choir at church. I took on the challenge and God gave me words that seemed to tumble onto my computer screen. I couldn't write fast enough! Around the time that those devotions went out, my music minister gave me the opportunity to perform a song I wrote. Soon another sister-friend encouraged me to submit devotions to a women's devotional ministry at our church.

Can you see a pattern here? God clearly wants me to write about Him. I still don't know the "how, what, when, where" of it all, but He is leading and I am following. This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending the She Speaks conference in North Carolina. It will take me a while to mentally unpack all that I learned, but with my next few posts, I hope to give you a small glimpse of the mighty work God is doing in my heart and soul through this conference.
